Two hand-cut butterfly boxes: vintage hand-painted Marbalia Wallpaper samples (circa 1957) hand-cut into butterfly shapes, mounted on brushed gold foil.

Marbalia Wallpaper, produced by Laverne Originals (Erwine and Estelle Laverne) in the 1950s, feature patented hand-painted faux marble designs. Samples currently may be found in collections throughout the United States, including the MOMA and the Copper Hewitt Design Museum, New York.

Frames are unfinished beveled maple and mat is acid-free. Butterfly boxes are sold separately at $980 each.

Condition: ExcellentWear consistent with age and use. New works of decorative art using vintage, rare 1950s hand-painted wallpaper samples.
