Description

Large Italian bed canopy, or corona (also known in France as a ciel de lit), circa 1760-1780. Hand-carved giltwood with painted detail decoration. Portion of reverse side is unfinished (probably originally set against a wall). Wonderful architectural element that can function as originally intended over a bed or canape sofa, or instead perhaps wired as a light fixture. Measures H 11 in x DM 31 in. (Ref. SF26.02)
