Italian serpentine-front pine commode: robust, large-scale three-drawer commode constructed in pine. Hand-carved curvaceous sepentine-front and drawers. Construction includes mortise and tenon joints, original (or early) tree glue and dovetailed drawer sides. Later steel drawer knobs feature acanthus motif detail. Commode stands upon bun feet. Extremely sturdy, stable dating from the mid-18th century (circa 1740-1760). Originally from the Dolomite region of Northern Italy.
