Description

Delft blue and white “Rosegeur” urn-shape tobacco jar with lid, Netherlands, circa 1780. Inscribed “Rosegeur” and decorated with coastal scene and seated “Amerindian” figure. Rosegeur, or Rozengeur, refers to rose scented tobacco favored for use with water pipes. Stepped brass lid with simple knob handle. De Drie Klokken (Three Bells) factory mark on bottom of jar.
