Arts and Crafts concave seated stool, circa 1890-1910, by James Shoolbred and Company. Sturdy decorative stool that can also serve as a drinks table or small side table. Perfect amount of wear and wood separation. Made by James Shoolbred & Co, and sold out of its Tottenham Court Road store – London’s first high-end department store. Center of round concave seat is flat to accommodate glassware, in case stool is used as a table. Original enamel maker’s label and red paint remains under seat.
